Irish Visa Appeal Refusal

Post by IAmClara » Fri Nov 09, 2012 7:33 am

Hello! I'm Clara from Philippines. I am happily engaged with my Irish man for quite long now. I have applied for 3 months holiday visa at Irish consulate sponsored by my Irish fiance in order to meet his family and friends and see the beauty of his home country.

After a month, we got the result and turned out negatively. The reason being of my refusal was insufficient funds to support my expenses back home after my expiration stay in Ireland.

Why do they have to bother and questioned my expenses at a later time? When in fact I was only applying for a holiday visa and my fiance's financial statement can justify that he can surely cover my travel expenses in Ireland and more. He can even buy a house in Ireland with that money!

Anyway, I sent the visa appeals officer a request for reconsideration of my application along with the documents to support my appeal but they did not alter the decision. My fiance and I are planning to pursue this to show them that we are seriously genuine of our intention and we are not giving up.

Can anyone help me please? Any ideas or suggestions of what are appropriate actions that we need to do?
Do you think we need a lawyer maybe to go against the decision made by the visa appeals officer?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks for your kind reply Kim. But I'd like to know if there is any best option to alter their decision after they turned down my appeal?

I know this is not the advice you are looking for, but I think marriage would be a better option.
If ever both of you decided to move to Europe permanently, marriage and as spouse of EU national would more useful interms of residency in another EU state(which incidentally could be Northern Ireland as it is part of the UK, but you would still be on the island of Ireland!) invoking EU Immigration Law has more power than Irish Immigration Law.
