Which visa - student / temporary worker / family visit?

Post by rayb » Fri Nov 09, 2012 10:23 am

I apologise if this is in the wrong section. Could you point me in the right direction please. Which visa application/guidance do I need to study? I am looking to bring my cousin from non-EU country (Kazakhstan) to live with us for a year or two, to occasionally look after the children (half term, holidays, sickness) and tidy the house once or twice a week.

Cousin might be interested in taking English lessons and a fashion design course in college to continue education or part time casual job. She is 20 yo, single, no job, graduates from college next spring, speaks basic English, never travelled outside her home.

Me and my husband will pay for expenses, visa application and will vouch as sponsors if needed. Her mom could pay or contribute towards education fees, all other costs will have to be on me. It would be great experience for her to get out and see the UK and Europe, and it would be great for us to have someone in the house when we need to be out. She is keen to come over but she doesnt want to leave her home permanently.

Could you educate me, which visa options, if any, I need to look at please. UKBA is very confusing and au pair programme is only covering EU countries, so I guess that option is off for us? Kazakhstan is not Youth Mobility visa list, so that’s not an option either... Please help.

Thank you!

There is no category for inviting extended family members to work as domestic workers (either full time or part time).

For entry clearance as a Tier 4 (General) migrant for the purpose of studying in the UK, all the information is available here.
