Excess absence in the final 12 months

Post by HTCX » Sat Nov 10, 2012 1:05 pm

Hi,

This is great and very informative forum. Many thanks

I am currently in the process of applying for Naturalization for my wife. She got her ILR way back in June 2006. She has made 2 short visits to her relatives abroad but that was in 2008 so I think it's irrelevant or it doesn't really affect the application.

However, I (husband) am currently working abroad (not in the UK). Within the past 12 months my wife and 2 children (my kids are British Citizens) have visited me and stayed with me for a total duration of 212 days.

Now, my question: Will this have an adverse affect on the Naturalization application because she has been away from the UK for more than 100 days within the final year?

If not, then what advice would you give me to try and strengthen my application so they (may be) accept it under "compassionate reasons."

Many thanks :)

It would be better to wait several months until the figure for the last year drops or do you intend to leave the UK so you wish to apply now.

See similar case with a happy outcome - Absences in the last year.
