Can you apply online for the FLR(M)?

Post by schauspielerin » Sun Nov 11, 2012 1:23 pm

Hi,

I'm struggling with the UKBA website (shocking): I am applying via FLR(M) and want to request an in-person appointment for it.

I was under the impression that I should submit the application online (I got this impression from UKBA's page on applying from within the UK, in the section titled "Application form", viewable here: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... ing-in-uk/)

However, when I go to the "apply online" section and choose the FLR(M) application, the only option I'm given is to download the paper form to fill it in by hand.

Furthermore, the application itself says that "Applications on this form may be made by post or in person at one of our Public Enquiry Offices. To apply in person, you must make an appointment." There is nothing said about submitting the form online prior to making an application.

So...if there is an online application form, where on earth is it? And if there isn't, is all I need to book an in-person appointment 1) an account with UKBA and 2) the desire to book said appointment? I would have thought for sure I needed something else, a transaction ID or something like that...?

Any guidance would be most gratefully appreciated, as I need to do this today.

Many, many thanks!

You don't have to apply online, I printed mine out and it was sent with my providing documents (although I applied by post and not in person)

I seen from your earlier post that your visa expires in January 2013. I'm not sure where abouts you are located, however currently the in person appointments are booked solid for the 3 months in advance that the UKBA offer. I believe new dates are added at midnight so you need to be lucky to get a spot. You will need to have an appointment booked in before you exisiting leave expires or you will be considered an overstayer (plus 28 days, as they have recently changed the rules)

To create an account with UKBA you just need an email address and a password, you then have to activate the account where you can carry on to look for available appointments in several locations.

Good luck!
