Change in Circumstances (sponsor)

Post by yazza » Tue Nov 13, 2012 2:15 pm

Background:

My grandparents were granted indefinite leave to remain in 2008 and I was the sponsor. At the time they needed care as they were elderly and had no-one to do this for them in their country of residence.

Since they received ILR both grandparents have seen a significant decline in Health. Most drastically so for gran who had a stroke in Aug 2011 and became totally paralysed on her right hand side (arms/legs/face).

Currently:
Grandma now requires 24/7 care and specialist equipment to support her (tube feed, toileting, bathing, mobility, social etc.)

Additionally, granddad has had heart problems, diagnosed with irregular heartbeat and also being assessed for memory loss and mental health issues.

My mother, who is 58 and diabetic is their primary carer on her own, assisted occasionally by dad when he finishes work.

To add to this, my circumstances have changed drastically where I no longer earn even half of what I did at the time of sponsoring them and I definitely have no chance of financing their care.

As you can imagine, it's a really testing time and I need to do something to change things.

I would really appreciate advice on how to deal with this situation and the questions below.

Are they eligible for any state support?
Do I need to inform UKBA of the change of circumstances to access support?
How does my change in earnings and ability to support as their primary sponsor affect things?

if they have ILR, and in the UK, they should be entitled to some kind of support. You need to speak to CAB bureau or a specialist for the advice. good luck
