ILR - Application (Dividend Only Income)

Post by Bos » Thu Nov 15, 2012 5:44 pm

Hi Folks,

This platform has been of immense support in preparing for what seems like climbing Kilimanjaro:-)

I'll appreciate clarification and input from anyone out there with experience of my unique situation.

I am applying for ILR with a combination of work permit and Tier 1 General.

Work permit validation: 15/Nov/2007 - 15/Nov/2012

I switched to Tier 1 on 11 Dec/2009 which expires 11/Dec 2012.

First assumption is that the 5years falls within this period clearly. Please help clarify.

I was in a full time job which required me to travel a lot between 15/Nov/2007 to 30/12/2010. I managed a number of Pan-European Projects funded by the EU for which my company was hired to coordinate - and i was the project manager. Total of 110days (mostly 1 to 2 days out of country - longest was 1week) and i have a letter from my company indicating the projects i managed, their goals and my role. The letter also include all the trips within 2007 - 2010, days in and days out and total days spent on each trip and reasons for travelling.

Now to the second bit, i left the job in 2010 December to manage my own company full time providing consultancy services and procurement services mainly for businesses in Africa.

First question is - i'll be showing my source of income only from dividends: through dividend vouchers, company account from my accountant, personal bank account indicating dividends paid and company bank account indicating same dividends paid out. I am the only shareholder so i also have a list of company director from company house and a letter from my accountant indicating i am the only shareholder of the business.

Is there anything i should watch out for here?

Secondly, i travelled a lot for my business since 2008 - as the business was registered before i left my job. The longest trip was however 30days (when i became full time) and total trips made for my business between 2008 and 2012 came to 327days (most mainly btw 2011 - 2012).

I am doing a letter from my business explaining the purpose of the travels and indicating client names and referring to business bank accounts and money paid in for services provided by the businesses which include the British Council in Nigeria.

Anything else to watch out for here or include?

In addition, total holidays for the period 2007 - 2012 is 78days.

So all travels out for the entire 5yr period comes to 515days. No year had up to 180days and no trip was beyond 30days.

My wife works here full time on dependent visa so we'll take her pay slips along and we also own our flat.

Sorry for the rather long gist - but i'll appreciate your help as i am yet to read on this platform the experience of anyone applying on full Dividend income claims.

Thanks

Ola

First, have you excluded departure/arrival from/to UK dates to add up your 'away' days?
Please do not send me PM if I haven't sent you one yet.
