Tier 2 ICT dependant visa.. Please help!n

Hi,

I am currently on TIER 2 ICT dependant visa expiring on 27 november 2012. My husbands company have approved for an extension till march 2013 thats less than 6 months. I read somewhere that if its not exdended beyond 6 months dependants will not have right to work? Is my understanding correct. I am already working here for last one year. will it affect my career? Main applicant first application was done on sept 2009.
