switch from restricted to unrestricted

When you will extend it will be unrestricted after 3 years.

2) Or if I find another job now, can't my new employer grant me an unrestricted one?

Hello! My employer granted me a 3 year restricted visa. it is not the employer who granted you the visa but UKBA. Your employer assigned a restricted CoS to you following which you applied for entry clearance from abroad.. Is it possible to change it to UNrestricted?

1) But can't my employer try to change it to unrestricted before that? no he cannot, the CoS has now been used, but what would be the point anyway and what advantage do you think you could gain if it were possible? Once you are in the UK the conditions of your leave are identical irrespective of whether you had a restricted or unrestricted CoS.
