Do I have to extend my contract for ILR application

Post by yesoar » Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:49 pm

I started work at UK from 1st Sept. 2010 with T2 general visa, and my contract with the University will finish at 31st Aug. 2015 and T2 visa will expire at the same time. According to current immigration rules, I will be eligible to apply for ILR at early Aug. 2015. But, I am not sure whether I meet the requirement in SET(0) "confirmation that you are still required for the employment in question" because my contract will finish soon after the application. So, I am wondering whether I have to extend my contract or find a new contract to avoid refusal of my application.

Are there any ILR applications that were refused because of this reason?

Thank you very much for your reply on my confusion.

You make reference to TODAY's rules/policies. 2015 is a long way. However, to be safe, you might want to stretch your contract beyond current exp.
Please do not send me PM if I haven't sent you one yet.
