Personal Tax allowance

Post by mnmoin85 » Mon Nov 19, 2012 10:09 pm

Hi

I shall be applying for my tier 1 extension visa. i have a question regarding persinal tax allowance. as you know we are required to earn a certain amount before tax to gain points for previous earings. so for eg if i have to show 35,000 and personal allowance is 6475, does that mean i have to earn 35000 + 6475 to get points for 35000 or is the personal tax allowance independent to your net profit earned.

No. The personal tax allowance which is set by HMRC is totally independent. You can claim points for the total gross earnings you make, in this case 35K, so long as they meet the T1 guidance criteria.
