applying for wife's FLR but her passport is expired

Post by ks2012 » Tue Nov 20, 2012 3:34 pm

Hi,

I am currently on ILR and need to apply for wife's FLR visa but we have just noticed her passport is expired and it can't get renewed in time as current one is expiring start of december.

Not sure what to do?
can i just send her expired passport and let them know that we will send new passport later as application processing time will take quite a bit of time?
can somebody please advise?

Many thanks.

The VISA usually expires on the date of passport expiry as latest. So the UKBA would simply refuse the application.

I would suggest that you get the passport to be renewed as soon as possible and make the application as soon as you receive the passport. You can supply a cover letter with your application in case the VISA expires byt the time the new passport is issued, to mention the delay due to renewal process.

Hope this helps.

Incorrect. Incorrect.

There is no requirement for an applicant's current passport to be valid.
