my girlfriend is croatian, she recently stayed with me in the uk for 4 and half months from june 15th, she returned home on november 4th. while she was here i supported her finacially and in no way was she recieveing public funds. she did not need a visa for this visit, croatians don't need a visa to visit the uk.

we wanted to spend our first xmas together this year so we decided it would be great to get her back over for xmas and the new year with a planned return home in May 2013, she had a hard time at the uk border on the first visit and as it was such a quick return we were advised by a friend of mine in immigration to apply for a visitors visa for the second visit. so she applied and unfortunately her application was denied and she was refused entry into the uk. the main reason being that she had already been in the uk for 4 and a half months, her 2nd trip would in total be 9 months altogether. we were devistated to recieve the news that she couldn't come back and were annoyed that we were advised to apply for the visa thinking she would be able to come back. Now she has a stamp in her passport and we have no idea when she will be able to come back....please if anyone knows when the period ends for when she can return please tell me beacause i can't seem to find the answer anywhere!!

Once refused she will have to re-apply for another visitor visa but see section VAT1.5:

A visitor should not, for example, normally spend more that 6 out of any 12 months in the UK

When applying next time she should show, with documents as far as possible, that during her visit she does not intend to:

take paid or unpaid employment, produce goods or provide services, including the selling of goods or services directly to members of the public;
do a course of study;
marry or register a civil partnership, or give notice of marriage or civil partnership;
carry out the activities of a business visitor, a sports visitor or an entertainer visitor; or receive private medical treatment.

Although this may not help you immediately, when Croatia enters the EU in July 2013 your girlfriend will be able to enter the UK without restriction. The visitor visa refusal won't affect this.
