I am a student (UK citizen)and was wondering if it would be possible for my partner to apply via dependant visa.
I have a part time job and over £5000 in bank.
what is the procedure and what documents will i need also how long is the visa for.

In such case (approx. £3000 annual income and savings of £5000), you cannot sponsor your partner's entry clearance application.

Gross income of £18600 per year.

If less than that, then:
Assume your gross annual income to be X.
You'll need: X + savings of (((18600 - X) * 2.5) + 16000) to be held for at least 6 months.

Based on the formula above:
If X is 3000, then you'll also need savings of £55000 held for at least 6 months.
If X is 0, you will need £62500 in savings .. to be held for at least 6 months.
...and so on.

Is it better to apply for 6month spouse visa and then notify the ukba of the ceremony?
What would the procedure be for that?

There is no such thing as a 6 month spouse visa.
