Last month, immigration rules were changed and came to effect on the first day of October 2012. This rules includes the changes in applying visa extension. Under the points-based system, all working and student routes, visiting routes, long residency routes and discharged HM Forces and UK ancestry routes, there will be new rules will apply.
Visiting or migrating foreigner must apply their visa extension within 28 days of current visa expiring. You have to keep in mind that if you overstayed your visa by more than 28 days the moment you apply, your application for further leave will be refused. The government has to require you to leave the country voluntarily.
