Tier-1 (General) Extenion if stayed outside UK over 6 Months

Post by singh1827 » Fri Nov 30, 2012 7:44 pm

Hi All,

I stayed in UK under Tier 1 General Visa starting form Jan 2008 till August 2011. My Tier 1 Visa got extended in Jan 2010, but due to family constraints I came back to India in August 2011 and currently staying here since then (more than 1 Year).

1. My question here is, Can I extend my Tier 1 General Visa again while I'm in India (for more than an year)?

2. Currently I'm employed in India for the same company which I worked in UK. If I'm entitled to extend my UK Visa, what are the steps I need to follow on?

3. Do I need someone to sponsor me again? If not please guide me.

Note: I came back from From UK after staying for almost 6 years starting from Sep 2005 till Aug 2012 which includes completing my master's study.

Note: Date of expiry of current leave: Jan 4 2013 (Tier 1 Extended)

Any help on the queries posted, will be much appreciated!

1. An extension application is a leave to remain application to "extend" stay in the UK under the same immigration category. One cannot apply for leave to remain (extension) from outside the UK.
2. The first step is to travel to UK before expiry of current leave. The second is to meet the specified requirements for extension. The third step is to make an extension application before the current leave expires.
3. Irrelevant question.
