Payment not deducted and no acknowledgement

HI All,
Apologies if its a repeated post I tried searching but couldn't find anything similar.
I have applied for a Tier 2 Points based application extension by post.
I did receive the POD of reception of application about 2.5 weeks back but so far neither money has been deducted nor have I received acknowledgement or any other communication from UKBA.

The conern is my current leave to stay expires in 15 days in such a case if I receive a rejection for whatever reason ( I can't see why that would happen but have to prepare for the worst now) would I have an opportunity to re-apply or would I have to leave to my home country.

WOuld appreciate any suggestions/help.

You can re-apply even after your visa has expired* although any such application would not extend the terms of your previous visa, i.e. you would not permitted to work while the case is ongoing.

*Applications submitted more than 28 days 'out of time' will, in all likelihood, be refused.

Thanks for the reply.
In case it benefits anyone my application was sent back saying payment couldn't be taken.
This means it can take upto a month before they could return back your application in such cases.
Luckily in my case my current VISA was still valid so have made a fresh application.
