STUDENTS / SHARES / ENTERPRENUER VISA

Post by nahmed » Sun Dec 02, 2012 11:00 am

Hello guys,

I wish to clarify something for my brother please.

Are Tier 4 students legally allowed to purchase shares in big FTSE Companies like Tesco etc as per the tier 4 immigration rules?

If yes, can this investment be used as part of their £200K (pre) investment towards a Tier 1 Enterprenuer application?

We have £200K+ available and the idea is to invest it before the initial application in an allowed investment for students such that it becomes easier at the time of extension ifyou know what I mean.

Your expert advise will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, anyone can purchase shares, no it's not considered for Tier 1 (Ent).

Could you please elaborate a bit further why cant it be used as a pre-investment?

Also, could you please advise on any other pre-investment ideas if possible please? E.g, can we form a company with him being 100% shareholder and I become a director?,etc.

Very much appreciated

Yes, because buying ordinary shares aka common stock in a company does not qualify you as a director of that organization. If you have formed or joined a company as a director by investing money, that would qualify. Pre-investment has a shelf-life of 12 months.

I think you should start asking questions from a position of having read the very extensive and informative policy guidance, then ask for elaboration of those points that you don't fully understand.

if you have £200K why not look or companies that looks for investments and invest and become a director. lot of small start up companies will love your 200k.
