British Passport for Child Born In India

Post by PJ1272003 » Sun Dec 02, 2012 4:56 pm

Hi,

I am a British citizen and my partner is ILR holder. We recently had our baby born in India. I will like some advice on

1. How long it takes to get British passport for baby from India?
2. Do I need to submit my original passport with application or can I get copies of each page (notarised in India)?

Thanks.

Rahul

Countersign on C2 on photograph

The C2 form states that a British national needs to sign at back of phtograph (in this case a child) confirming true likeliness. If the child is born recently abroad then how is this possible for someone in Britain to confirm?

A British citizen doesn't mean he lives in the UK. He can be British and live in India. Also, I believe that if you can't get a British citizen, there are other nationalities which are also accepted (check the guide).
