Where to start?

Hi there,

My girlfriend is from Brazil, we lived together in Dublin for 2 years while she was on a GNIB. She is back in Brazil, we are planning on getting married. Doing my research into this is quite a daunting taste and I feel a bit lost in all the rules and regulations.

If anyone can give me some insight into the basic process I would be very grateful.

Ideally what we hope for is both of us to have dual Brazilian and Irish citizenship so we can work in each others countries.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you investigated the possibility of applying for a visa in your own right before getting wed? Nothing puts strain on a relationship like getting married & the legal hoops you'll have to jump through won't help

Speir, it is a myth you become a citizen by marrying someone. You can't even get a visa to live in your spouse's country automatically without doing a lot of paperwork & convincing the authorities the relationship is
