Tier 2(General) App: Driving Under the Influence Convictions

Post by Mark61 » Tue Dec 04, 2012 9:59 pm

Hello,

I have three very old Driving Under the Influence (DUI) convictions in the USA. They are 29 years old, 21 years old, and 16 years old. One or more of these can be expunged because I have no convictions for more than 10 years and no other offenses. And, none of these are felonies, they are all misdemeanors.

The problem is that I will receive my restricted cert. of sponsorship (RCOS) January 12-15 and it takes two months to have these convictions expunged (= sealed and not visible on my criminal record). My questions:

1. How much emphasis will be placed by the UKBA on these really old convictions? Will they deny my visa if I have just one of these? or two? or three?

2. Has anyone reading this had one DUI reported to the UKBA on their visa application and still received their visa?

3. How long after I receive the RCOS do I have to make my visa application? What is the duration of the validity of the RCOS?

Thanks,

MB

A CoS expires if not used within 3 months of issuance. Never had a the other issue, so I don't know about that side of things!!
