Can I sponsor my 73 year old aunt, who is heart patient

Post by neoparzan » Wed Dec 05, 2012 7:44 pm

Hi guys!

I have a British Passport and I would like to sponsor my aunt who is 73 years old and a heart patient. She is my late birth mother's elder sister and I am the only person to look after her. She is living with some distant relatives who wouldn't care for her if I didn't send her the money. I send her money every month and can prove it. Also she has no other person she can turn to for financial help. She has recently had a heart operation and I want to look after her properly and I can only do that if she is with me in the UK. Can someone please advice my of the immigration law says about it.

That's great because you will have to continue to do so. As long as there is suitable palliative care in her location and it is affordable (you will be expected to hire a home-help if necessary; very affordable in developing countries), there is very little possibility of her settlement in the UK.

You can apply to join a settled person in the UK if:

You need long-term personal care to perform every day tasks, such as washing and cooking.
The care you need is not available in the country where you are living, either because it is not available and there is no person in the country where you are living who can reasonably provide it or it is not affordable
