You should give a few more details:

- where is he currently living, and if outside his home country, what's his visa status.

- what's his nationality?

- you say you have British/Irish dual nationality but then you talk about your "home country" - where's that?

- Have you investigated whether migration to Canada or Australia is feasible in terms of requirements and timescales?

EEA law (and you can benefit from your Irish Republic nationality) PERMIT spouses to live SEPARATELY in ANY part of the UK.

So, if she marries you under EEA laws you may live in the UK but not under the same roof.

But we shouldn't forget the fact that the time period for settlement under EEA rules is much longer compared to the standard route.

And why should two spouses want to live separately anyway? There is still the right under EEA law to refuse status if it's a "marriage of convenience".

Thanks to both of you for responding. We don't want to live seperately in the UK, we want to live together but we haven't decided where yet, hence why I was wondering about the most straightforward way for us to marry in Europe.

Thanks for your information though, but I'll look elsewhere for advice - not interested in people using my situation to debate EEA marriage laws.
