Post by mxgee » Fri Dec 07, 2012 4:35 am

I am a UK permanent resident I am going to apply for a spouse visa for my wife soon. Please advise do need to show funds for maintenance along with proof of income. Minimum income threshold of £18,600 for sponsoring the settlement in the UK of a spouse or partner, or fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner of non-European Economic Area (EEA) nationality, with a higher threshold for any children also sponsored; £22,400 for one child and an additional £2,400 for each further child.

If you are in part including funds, these funds should be present in a UK bank account or bank account recognized by the UK for at least six continuous months.

Proof will be asked for.

Thank you for your reply. I understand that I have to provide last six months bank statement and payslips of last six months to prove my income. Please advise do I need to maintan a cretain amount of balance in my bank account during these six months or it does not matter as long as my slary is paying into my bank account from last six months.
Regards

Its not necessary that you have savings, but you must have the minimum threshold. This threshold must be consistent for six months or more, the threshold can be met by numerous ways such as income from investment, interest from saving and employment income etc, all must tally to the threshold.

Proof of employment will be scrutinized so dont submit false documents or you will loose, they know all the tricks!

Why dont you go to the UKBA website, you will find all that info and more.

Goodluck.

I have similar question, so even if I meet the income requirement by providing the payslips to show that I have meet the income requirement each month, I still have to show that my bank accounts balance ( which the payslips paid in) have not below GBP16,000 threshold for the past 6 months?

Thanks for the explaination !

No - you've got yourself confused.

What is being said is that there's an income threshold that can be met in many ways.

If you meet the threshold through income only - you don't have to provide any evidence of savings. If you don't meet it by income alone, then you need to show some other evidence.

In any situation - you need to provide the bank statements (either to evidence income or to evidence savings).
