Junior Project manager SOC code

Post by jumblejoys » Sat Dec 08, 2012 12:59 pm

Not sure if this is covered elsewhere, but I have a rather peculiar case. Having reviewed the SOC list looking for a junior project manager code, I cannot find a suitable role/salary band to match. I earn well over the 20k threshold, slightly over 30k but below the 39k specified project manager salary band - meaning there is no junior project manager allowance as most IT companies now have. Am I wrong in thinking the 39k is for the higher end PM roles? as I have looked at other salary survey lists and Junior PM salaries range from 27k - 32,500. There is an option that states if an employer has suggestions to review salary bands or finds anything wrong, then they can put forward suggestions on one of the UKBA site links and my employer is looking to pursue this option but I am thinking this will take time which I don't have. Can anyone please advise an alternative soc code to use or provide any other suggestions? Thanks

Don't ge hung up on the job title, the job description is more important and should match with what you are or will be doing.

Also, It is the company's responsibility to determine the appropriate job SOC code, not yours. They have to certify it to UKBA in the CoS.
