How difficult is it to find sponsorship as an experienced IT

This subject has been touched on numerous times but I would really appreciate some assistance specific to my circumstances.

I have 13 years IT experience in Banking and companies such as IBM. My skill set is IT Risk & Security as well and eCommerce Infrastructure with experience in Australia and Singapore and currently work for a UK bank. (No chance of moving within the company)

I have been watching the UK Job market for the past couple of years praying for a return of the HSMV but can tell this is some time off. I've contacted several recruiters trying to get an idea on the likelihood of sponsership with no reply.

I am considering giving the UK a go and would appreciate any feedback from others in a similar position with a senior skill set.
