A2 Application (ROR) if Passport Requested RC card revoke?

Hi
Can any one share experience or give an opinion in situation below.
I have A2 application to Retain Rights of Residence with RC in my passport valid for one year.
I need to travel and would like to request passport back.
Will HM cancel (revoke) current Non-EU Residence Card before retune passport or my visa still be valid until application decided?
