Passport and visa stolen overseas

Post by mars80 » Thu Dec 27, 2012 9:19 am

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the following situation and has advice to share?

My Australian passport, with UK visa were stolen in Finland a few days ago. As Finland does not issue emergency passports, I have to head to Sweden or Denmark to get one.

I am on a Tier 1 visa, and I am one month away from applying for my ILR. My home is in the UK.

My questions are:

1.) Do I need a replacement visa to enter the UK, or can I enter as a tourist?
2.) Will I be able to get a visa with only an emergency passport?
3.) Does anyone know how long it will take to get the replacement visa in Scandanavia? (note that it is the holiday season at the moment).
4.) Do I need to apply for Tier 1 again, or can I just apply for ILR without my old Tier 1 visa?
5.) Will it be complicated to apply for ILR without my old passport?

Any other advice?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks vinny, that's quite helpful. We did find out that we'll get an emergency passport - and one of the posts suggests that the original expiry date might possibly be reinstated if the IO is satisfied that all the conditions have been met.

Do you know if it will then still be possible to apply directly for ILR in a month's time without having to pay for a new visa?

Cheers.
