OCI & Tourist visa Question

Hello,

Please can someone advise if I can apply for OCI and Indian tourist visa (6 months) at the same time.

The reason I want to do so is that it usually takes time for the OCI and in between I may have to travel to India.
As I understand for OCI, I do not need to submit my British passport... So I should be able and allowed to first submit my OCI application and while it is in process, apply for tourist visa as PIO.

Appreciate your advise, as always.

it should not be any problem applying for both at the same time.
