Spouse Wife Visa Refused Applied already Review to ECM

HI All,
I have submitted my wife Spouse visa on 11th Aug 2012 and she get a refusal on 7th Nov 2012 .I hire a lawer in uk and made online appeal against decesion to ECM for review.I am wondering how this process is lengthy and what are the chances as my lawer is very hopefull that ECM will turn down decesion but I have no clue .Second thing i need to ask you can i apply my wife visa as family visit visa during appeal time ?

As your lawyer may have told you, the ECM review is an integral part of the overall appeal process. It can happen within the first eight weeks of submitting the appeal, so expect to know if this part of the appeal was successful sometime around Feb or March. A visit visa application on the back of a failed settlement application is a complete waste of time.
