Hi everyone. I'm currently staying with a friend in London. This came about since a job I obtained through a London agency didn't pan out. Actually, the agency purposely mislead me, and found out yesterday, has done the same with others from the U.S. Knowing Italy has a 90 day limitation this is one of the FIRST things I asked the agency, they assured me I had nothing to worry about. They place people for nanny, Au-paur (?) positions. This has been a nightmare to say the least since this Rome family (mother) put me on a plane to Sicily without explanation to stay with her daughter. I was put a small room that stunk and the plumbing backed up along with freezing conditions. After a horrific sleepless night I was told by the daughter that her Mom had terminated the contract (1yr) because they were seeking someone that spoke Italian, BUT this was not what this family had on the contract or profile. I'm now left to try and locate work, but have researched and realized a work permit is very difficult to obtain. Is there anyone that knows of sites for Italy or Spain that may sponsor me in the field of caring for children, teaching them English, it needs to be a live-in position. I'm so tempted to report this agency! In fact, they are the reason I got a full interrogation and almost sent back to the States. I made lots of arrangements for this trip not to mention lots of money spent which I haven't recovered. Thank you in advance.
