Application BR5 applied July 2012 needs to travel urgent

Hi,

I'm Non-EEA national, my wife is Romanian.
I applied Application BR5 for RC on 25/07/2012 already passed 5 months
We received certificate of application on 16/10/2012
we needs to travel urgent, so we asked our passports back (email 26/12/2012) and we would like to know is there any chances to get RC along with passport or we need to come back and submit our passports again?plz reply if smone familiar with this situation.Thank you
