Has your wife been an Irish citizen since you were married or has she acquired citizenship more recently?
How long have you had your residence card?
Good question. Take a look at section 15A and 16A of the 1956 Act.laspo24 wrote: i know it doesnt count before married... want to know if it start counting right from the day we got married or when i got my residency... as it took another few months after marriage before i got my residency.

Perhaps, except that this information is entirely wrong. Whether a marriage is recogised or not is not dependent on immigration status. The information on citizenship is also wrong.IntegratedMigrant wrote: It only counts from the day you got your UK residency card.
Reason is that marriages must be recognised by the government and your UK residency card date is the day that your marriage was recognise by the government.
You can marry an Irish for 10 years, but if your marriage is not recognised, you' re never eligible to apply for citizenship.
Secondly if you marriage is recognised but you are living abroad with your partner who is Irish for 5 years, you must then come and live in Ireland for a continuous 1 year prior to your citizenship application.
Hope your question is answered
