I'm posting about a friend of mine with a rather unusual set of employment/work related issues.
She left Sierra Leone and came to Manchester about decade ago and sought asylum in the UK but was refused. However she stayed anyway and used a fake national insurance number card to work in a high street shop chain so she could eat. She was then promoted at work.
She now has successfully got limited leave to remain in the UK and has a new official NI no which she wants to give to her boss. No claiming of benefits has ever occurred.
What we'd like to know is what would likely happen if she gives her employer the ni no?
BTW her personal file was lost at work not too long ago. This may be lucky but the payroll department still has her payroll file with the ni no. She also left their employment before getting her LLR and returned to the same job shortly after getting it but they used her old payroll file.
Kind regards,
Jamber
