Have you ever stayed in the UK beyond the end of leave?

Have you ever stayed in the UK beyond the end of leave?

I applied my student visa renewal on the last day of expiry & got it renewed,

So in the form
Have you ever stayed in the United Kingdom beyond the end of your period of leave?

What explanation do i provide for staying beyond my expiry date.

overstaying means applying after the leave has expired

None, because you did not overstay.

I think you have overstayed from the application form guidance definition of overstay is as below
look at option (b)


D5 ‘Overstaying’ means that you have remained
in the UK beyond the latest of:
(a) the time limit attached to your last period of
leave
(b) any extended period of leave pending
determination of an in-time application and any
subsequent appeal, or
(c) the date that you received a notice confirming
that an application was not valid, provided that
the application was submitted before the time
limit attached to your last period of leave expired.
If you wish to remain in the UK after the 28 day
period you should leave the UK and reapply for a
visa.
