Completing MN1 Form

Post by amoghdhamankar » Wed Jan 02, 2013 4:08 pm

Hello,

Many thanks for this very informative forum on all aspects British Citizenship. I may be repeating questions already posted here but it would be nice to have an expert opinion before any application.

Background -
1) Father - British Citizen by naturalisation (applied for passport - end of Dec 12)
2) Mother - ILR in India due to come back in Jan
3) Elder Daughter - 4 yrs 11 months (as I write) ILR in India due to come back in Jan
4) Younger Daughter - 10 months (as I write) applied for ILR in India and due to come in Jan

Query -
MN1 application for Registration as Britsh Citizen. Can the moderators confirm the following?

Elder Daughter -
Section 1 Personal Information - Application under Section 3(1)?
Section 2 Resident Requirement - Not Required under Section 3(1). Query - My elder daughter was in UK for 3 years. Should I provide home address in Section 2 for her Residence?
Also, should I mention the absentee details for my elder daughter?
Section 3 Parent Residence - Not Required under Section 3(1)
Section 4 Good Character - Not Applicable. Daughter under 10
Section 5 Refrees - I will try for GP / Health visitor else, as discussed in this forum, I will get a professional refree
Section 6 - Consent - Not Applicable under Section 3(1)
Section 7 - Declaration - My signature under Signature section

Younger Daughter -
Section 1 Personal Information - Application under Section 3(1)?
Section 2 Resident Requirement - Not Required under Section 3(1).

Kindly reply and once again sorry if this is a repeat post.

Section 2 Resident Requirement - Is required for 3(1) applications.
Section 6 - Consent - As the form states it is not required but is expected. I suggest you get it filled in.

If your children have not been living in the UK for the past few months, I would advise you not to apply the next day they return but to wait for sometime. Although there are no official residence requirements, section 3(1) applications are at discretion and the HO might refuse applications for children who just returned to the UK.

Hi All,

I am quite new to this part of the forum, have a quick question on the Referees for MN1, can child care manager be one of the professional referees? Any other suggestions on professional referees?

Any inputs senior members?

I am planning to have my manager as the second referee (he is a British citizen), but am confused on where to get the first referee from, can my wife's British colleague act as the first referee, or does it have to be a professional person who has interacted with my daughter?

Regards

Thanks Jambo.

Can someone who has done this recently share your experience on the same?

Hi Jambo,

thanks for the comments. In your opinion, what would be ideal time for the application of my daughters? I have now received my British Passport as well.

Also, I wanted to confirm that my daughters application would be under Section 3(2) and my status of citizenship is "Otherwise by Descent"

Thanks,
Amogh
