Proving the applicant will return home?

Post by Noz03 » Wed Jan 02, 2013 11:34 pm

Evidence that the applicant would return back to the home country on completion of the visit (and not overstay)
I am helping my girlfriend apply for the general visitor visa (by invitation letter) to visit my family for 9 days. The whole application seems fine except this one. She is not currently a student or working and I am very worried that if this important requirement is not met she will be automatically rejected.

So how can she prove this without proof of work or study?

Does she have any plans to study or work in her home country in future?

She is planning to do her masters in Germany or Central Europe but at this time has not even applied. Even if she applies before applying for the visa, without acceptance it wouldn't prove anything though right?

The only thing she has is a hand written rental contract with our landlord and an internet contract and can not be cancelled without rather large fees. Other bills can all be cancelled at any time. Can these contracts be used? Or is there anything else I am not thinking of?

Also is there anything my mother (the inviter) can offer to fulfill this requirement on the visa? Ie could my mother agree to be fined in the case that the applicant overstayed or violated her visa?

Another thing actually, she is actually considering to work for a small company, but wouldn't sign the contract until at least next month due to a training period. Would a letter from her future employer stating that he intends to employ her when she returns be worth anything in the way of proof?

All these things would add to proof that she intends to return. There's no real right or wrong here, just good proof and poor - it's about convincing the person looking at her application.
