Fiance Visa Question

Post by allyk » Sat Jan 05, 2013 12:10 pm

Hi

I intend to get married to my fiance of 3 years however she resides ouwith the EEA/EU. My earnings are only at approx £12,500 per annum.

I reside in Glasgow. As it currently stands i do not earn enough as-per the guidelines set at £18,600. Should there be a set standard of savings to cover the shortfall?

She plans to stay with me for another 5 months on her tourist visa.

What options are there on marrying in a 3rd country?

I hope there can be some positive sollution.

Many thanks

Ally

Yes - the formula for the amount of savings you need is (shortfall * 2.5) + 16000.

So - in your case - you need ((18600-12500)*2.5)+16000) or £31,250.

These savings, unlike the income, can be in accounts in either name - but must have been held in the account for more than 6 months.

Also note that you'll need to meet these requirements again during the time of the visa - so you can't burn the savings if you don't get more income.

Finally - yes - you can get married in a 3rd party country dependant on the laws of that country. Once you do that - you then apply for a spouse visa - which has the same financial requirements.

Please remember that your fiancee will need to leave the UK to apply for either a fiancee or a spouse visa.
