Someone I know has a colleague at work who was born and bred to British parents and grandparents and great-grandparents in this country and who is applying for a first adult BP at the age of 30-something.
This person is at the moment mega stressed as the IPS is asking for Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Parent's marriage certificate, information about grandparent's date and place of birth.
It seems that it is harder for a British-born person to apply and provide proof for a first adult passport than a naturalised citizen like myself. Also British-born people are not used to being asked for loads and loads of paperwork and documents by some government organisation. This person must surely feel she is being investigated by the Gestapo or something.
