ILR APP's over 18 query

Family of 7 have had UK Ancestry Visa's (plus extensions) since Feb 2005.
Since then 4 of our 5 kids have turned 18. All live at home (only going away to uni). Applying for ILR's soon.
Query: I'm concerned about my older kids' applications because I am the one with the Ancestry (sponsor). I was told in 2010 they would be able to get their ILR without problems but I had almost a year of absolute nightmares just getting the extensions (after they changed rules so we had to stay 5 years before applying for ILR). I am so dreading this year!!!
Anybody else been in this situation before???
