oci for child

Post by ssurwade » Mon Jan 07, 2013 6:01 pm

hello,

me and my husband are british citizens and holds oci. I am planning to go back to India for good after the child is born in june 2013. I will be applying for Indian visa for my child from uk. The entry for child in India will be on tourist visa.... my question is if I apply for oci for my child from India, will this be an issue as the child may not do exit on his tourist visa within six months of its expiry but I will use his oci whenever I want to come to uk. thanks for your help in advance.

thanks ban s for your prompt reply... but my question is still unanswered. I know that I can apply oci from India but I need to know if I take my child on tourist visa from uk, this visa will be valid for six months. I am not planning to come back in this six months. Mean while I will apply for OCI for my child and in future when I am coming to uk will that create any problem as his visa will be already expired (on which child got entry in the country) but child will have OCI but it will not have entry stamp at immigration. Do I have to bring back child in six months to uk take him back on OCI or not?

You have to apply for an Exit permit from the FRRO/FROs.

Unfortunately detailed process documents are not available in to support the various immigration rules in India and a lot of these rules are subject to the discretion/interpretation of the local/regional office/officer. So I would suggest to check with your nearest FRRO office once you are in India.
