Switching Employers in the UK

Post by peter sumner » Mon Jan 07, 2013 9:54 pm

Dear all,

When switching employers whilst within the UK ( so moving from TIER 2 ICT to another employer TIER 2 ICT or Tier 2 General), is the process a lot smoother and shorter than when you obtain the first Employer ICT2 Visa from out of the country? So very simply, is there any benefit the 2nd time around in being in the UK and considering the UKBA have already having done a visa for you previously?

Thank you.
Peter

You can't move to another employer under ICT. Otherwise it would be a Tier 2 (Gen) application.

The benefit of already being in the UK is there won't be any applicable cooling off periods and it would probably be easier to facilitate job applications and interviews...

To put the timeline in perspective, I was hired in May of last year and still don't have my T2G visa!!! I have been in the UK the whole time, am shortage occupation. Granted, my application is with the UKBA (finally!!)! I wouldn't exactly say this has been an easy route.
