Tier 2 ICT-Short term staff visa Extension/switching.

Presently i am in UK on Tier 2 ICT short term staff visa processed in July 2012 valid till Aug 2013.
With recent ammendment in my project contract it is extended to Dec 2013 & my presence is require till end.

Is there any way that Tier 2 ICT short term staff visa extended or switched into another valid visa category like Tier 2 general while staying in UK?

NO, you will need to leave the UK before your T2 ICT short term visa expires but can apply from abroad for T2 ICT long term visa if you have a new CoS (NB: min. salary £40k). T2G entry clearance would be subject to cooling-off.
