BC or Naturalization for child born in UK ?

Post by velp » Wed Jan 09, 2013 12:51 pm

Hello ,

Happy new year to all !!!

1, child born in UK Feb 2012 , I took her Indian passport for any urgent travel .
[ but NOT traveled last 1 year ]

2, Both parents & child got ILR Jan 2013 .

My question

1 , Can I apply BC for my baby ? Can she is eligible for BC or baby has to wait till 1 year as Parents to get BC ?

2, If the baby is eligible , what is my next step ?

Please advise & direct me in right path ?[/i]

Baby does not need to be naturalised. You need to register baby as british citizen. Baby is not british yet, but registeration was be as of right.

You mean baby is eligible now for British citizen though she got an ILR .
I am planning to apply her British Citizen , Can I ?

The form I need to use is MN1 , any previous link would help for applying British citizen procedure

The baby was born in the UK but at that time neither parent had ILR. But now they do.

Accordingly an application under section 1(3) ...... an entitlement application ..... can be made to Register the baby as British. Use form MN1.

You could have saved the expense of getting the baby their ILR, because it is irrelevant to the success of a section 1(3) application.
