Help with confusing visa national/EU passport holder

Post by oneperson » Fri Jan 11, 2013 2:44 pm

Hello,

I will need to apologise in advance as I was not sure where this topic would fit best , so please excuse me for the trouble.

I have some questions regarding my case which I've been trying to get answer for for months.
My story is as follows, I came to the UK on a student visa and stayed on a PSW , however although I was born in a non-EU country my father's family are originally from a country that is now part of the EU, my father never had official documentation as he was born after my grandparents left the country. In recent years after a lengthy process both my father his family and I were declared citizens of the EU country, I got my citizenship authorisation statement in august 2012 and in december I received my EU passport.

Now I'm in the UK , my PSW is going to expire next month , however I now have an EU passport. I have spent quite a long time trying to find some information but all I got at the end is requests to pay legal fees from different organisations and companies.

I'm getting quite worried has this has taken a very long time and I still don't know if my status is legal or will it be legal once the visa expires, will my new EU passport override any existing visas ?

If anyone can shed some light on this or refer me to similar cases it will be wonderful. I've been trying to get some help from my local citizens advice bureau but they have very limited resource unfortunately to give a definite advice. Other places I turned to required legal fees which at the moment I can afford and my last resort would be the UKBA but I'm a bit worried about contacting them.

Thank you in advance and apologies if I may have opened the topic in the wrong place.
