Leaving the country during grace period - ILR eligibilty

Post by royanathu » Sat Jan 12, 2013 9:36 am

I had a tier 2 visa and the company advised me to find another job as their business was going down. During that time my Dad went seriously ill back home and I went back. While returning back to UK (after 16 days) I came to know at the airport that my visa was cancelled 3 months back , I was under grace period and the letter was sent from Home Office while I was away from the country.

The officer showed that letter, understood my situation and stamped a 30 days valid stay stamp and allowed me.
Then after that I got the job and I’ve finished 10 years now.

Am I eligible to apply ILR under 10years rule?

I've googled and found it hard to get a clue about my problem.
Someone knows about this, please let me know.
Thank you

In brief:

Travelled outside UK and came to UK while on grace period(Tier2 cancelled). Allowed inside UK at the port with a stamp for 30 days and now in Tier2.Has my ILR counting clock restarted here?
