What is the intended purpose of this letter? Are you making an application to the UKBA? What is that application and where does this letter fit into your intended plan?

I am going for my Tier 1 Extension. I am taking my bank statements and pay slip as well. Many people on this forum suggested to take a reference letter from employer, stating my Job posistion and annual salary.
Thanks

The fact that you are providing payslips would negate the requirement for a letter. In fact, the two items together would not be considered as they both come from the same source. Payslips and bank statements are fine; letter and bank statements are fine; letter and payslips are not fine. You seem to intend to provide a letter and payslips and bankstatements, which would mean that either the payslips or the letter are superfluous. And as you still don't have the letter, you now don't need to waste time acquiring it.

Yes, and do remember that this is evidence of salary (to score points) rather than evidence that you are working or will be working. If people on this forum have mentioned they were granted on the basis of providing a letter, as well as statements and payslips, that may be so, but just because they elected to provide additional documents, does not mean that those additional documents were crucial to the application. The caseworker will take only what he needs and leave anything that he does not need.
