Name incorrect on BRP - UKBA asking for passports

Hi all,

UKBA managed to mispell a simple name on my wife's indefnite leave to remain BRP. They have admitted the error and much to my disgust offered us a rather kind solution...to send the BRP as well as passport back to bristol office. Not the faintest idea as to why they need passport again, they claim no liability for loss anyway. My wife has two passports (one current and one old with all her UK visa stampings) . I am wondering if she needs to send both. The last thing we need is to lose both!

Please can anyone advise?
