Hi everyone can anybody tell me if claiming healthy start tokens for a new born baby is a public fund? i am British and my partner has no recourse to public funds and no status at the moment my child is British any advise would be appreciated.

the children are british or?

the tokens would be payable to you if u qualified as a single parent, then its not public funds...

if children are here on your partners right to stay then considered public fund (ie: if your partner was not here/children are here on your partners leave to remain)

its simular to child benefit / tax credits... but:

i read it that child is british, therefore claim. just make it clear on application with a covering letter that your partner has no recourse to public funds...

also, you will need to get a paper application, and include your child tax credit assigned national insurance number for partner...

(if partner would recieve extra tokens for pregnancy - then make it clear that they do not want the extra tokens due to being pregnant etc - only claim for british children etc)

Child is British(already born) i am British(Father) but partner has no recourse to public funds, and is currently in the process of regularizing status the letter sent inviting apply is addressed to me and only me.

you have to name her as your partner.

to claim you have to be in reciept of CTC (not WTC) IS, JSA/ETC ....

to claim CTC ETC you MUST name your partner as partner - to not do so will be fraud.

(she can claim TC legally, even though it is a public fund as you are entitled to them)
healthy start is not considered a public fund as such... its a "grant" by the health service (from what i gather)

but you need to make them aware of your wifes situation - then if anything comes from it, you will have a copy of the letter you sent to them to show UKBA to state you did not claim Public Funds intentionally etc... and you only claimed what you were entitled to should you be a single father - As the law permits.

but as i said, pregnant women get healthy start vouchers... its not too wise to claim them on that basis, because that will be increasing the burden on the public funds etc...

(NOTE: tax credits, you can claim the couples premium on tax credits, and it wont affect the no recourse clause....)
