Getting married in Spain

Post by cindycs » Tue Jan 15, 2013 9:53 pm

Hello,

I am a UK citizen and my partner (and father to our 4 month old child) is Indian. He is here on a tourist visa in the UK until Feb. We are unsure of the best way to proceed.

I am self employed and will be shortly registering in Spain as I have work there for the summer. My partner and I would like to get married, and now having looked into doing this in the UK, it seems that the costs and requirements involved are quite substantial.

Does anybody know if he would be able to come and join me in Spain and get married there? If so, which visa is required and what kind of rights would he have (residence, work)?

After the summer, would he then be able to come with me back to England (on EEA family permit) and have the right to work in the UK from then?

Thank you very much for your attention.

The hard part will be getting him into Spain to marry. Yes, a visa would be required and you would have to make relevant enquiries with the Spanish consulate about that.
