Waiting Period for Defacto

Post by celticorr » Thu Jan 17, 2013 11:45 am

Hi there!

Well I have just applied for the Defacto relationship but I was wondering what could be an average waiting period for this to go through and since my current stamp 2 visa expires in 2 weeks I would like to know what my situation will be after this happens while I wait for an answer from immigration.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

On their website INIS say it can take up to 12 months. I have a friend who applied and got it in 2 months though, so I guess they give the worst case scenario.

But in any case I don't think you should count on your application being processed within 2 weeks :-s

Edit: I assumed the you applied for De Facto with an Irish national - if the relashionship with with an EU national you can expect 6 months processing time but they will give you a temporary Stamp 4 in the meantime.

Thank you jeupsy! I didn't expect for them to process it in two weeks hehe I know exactly what you mean :) but mainly I was wondering what my status is while I wait. I indeed applied for the De Facto with an Irish national :)
